"Writing for the Web”

6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

Carolyn Griswold of cgwebhelp, LLC and Nancy Simonds of Nancy Simonds Communication LLC will present the workshop.

The program, part of the ongoing, Wednesday Night is Business Night series, will discuss how and
why writing for the Web is different from print marketing materials and how to organize content
for web navigation. Attendees will learn how to determine their market and message, the
importance and use of key words, the components of a basic web site and how to make a web site
into a customer communication tool.

Carolyn Griswold has created and maintained web sites since 1996. She is a member of the HTML
Writers Guild/International Webmasters Association and the MetroHartford Chamber of Commerce.
Nancy Simonds is a trained copywriter and proofreader and holds a teaching degree in English.
Nancy Simonds has been in business as Nancy Simonds Communication, LLC since April of 2000.

“Marketing.net: New Elements and Trends in Business Web Sites”
Wednesday, October 26th
6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

Paul Berg, of Technology on Call, will be the featured presenter.

Web sites are a popular business marketing tool, but many businesses aren’t sure which new
technologies they should consider for their web site. Mr. Berg will demonstrate and discuss
popular business communication devices like blogs, edit-able web sites, e-commerce, company
newsletters, directories and calendars that maximize customer communication via the Web.
Attendees will learn which might be worth adding to their web site, what to consider, how to
determine if these methods are appropriate for their business and how to effectively use these
marketing tools.

All programs are free of charge, open to the public and will be held in the Program Room of the
Simsbury Public Library at 725 Hopmeadow Street (Rte. 10). To register or for more information,
visit the Library’s web site at www.simsburylibrary.info or contact Jennifer Keohane, Business
