GENEALOGY or FAMILY HISTORY
Simsbury Public Library 725 Hopmeadow Street
Simsbury, Conn. 06070 TEL: 860-658-7663 FAX: 860-658-6732
THREE STEPS TO GETTING
STARTED
- The way to get started is to write down on charts, what you already
know. Charts may be found in "how to" books. A reproducible master for
genealogy charts (Pedigree
Chart and Family Group
Chart) is kept at the Reference Desk so you can make copies
- The next step is to check with older members of your family and
among your records to fill in more information on your charts. Take good
notes on anything family members tell you, even if it seems irrelevant
at the time.
- Then you are ready to see if anyone has done a genealogy or family
history. Visit the Library. Use C.O.N.N.E.C.T,
a regional catalog (includes Simsbury and the Capital Region), and reQuest
(a Connecticut statewide catalog), to determine if one is available.
