Greetings,
This month we have news of our summer goings
on and some things you may not know about on
our Web site.
| Camp Read-A-Lot: Summer Reading Program for Teens and Adults |
 |
|
In the tradition of popular children's summer
reading programs, Simsbury Public Library
teen & adult patrons have their own reading
program
called, 'Camp Read-A-Lot for Teens & Adults.'
Like the children's reading program of the
same name, teen and adult readers have the
opportunity to log their summer reading and
win prizes. The reading program begins on
June 18th and runs through August 28th.
Readers can register anytime during the
program at the library's Adult Reference Desk
or via at
www.simsburylibrary.info
after June 12th.
Participants will maintain a Reader's Log
recording the title and author of the books
they read during the program. Reader's Logs
can be picked up or accessed online via the
library's website. Prizes will be awarded
after reading three books. After reading 6,
9, 12 or 13+ books, readers will receive a
raffle ticket entering them in a raffle to
win larger prizes.
All of the prizes for the program have been
generously donated by local businesses and
organizations. The 'Camp-Read-A-Lot for Teens
& Adults'
program is free of charge and open to the
public. Complete details are available at
the Adult Reference Desk, by calling 658-7663
or by visiting www.simsburylibrary.info.

| An evening of Harry Potter |
 |
|
At midnight on July 21 the new Harry Potter
book, "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows"
will hit the shelves.
But not just the shelves at Borders and
Barnes and Noble. At the stroke of midnight
the Simsbury Library has copies available for
reading.
For children entering grades 3 through 8 we
are sponsoring a lock in at the library with
food, crafts, fun and Harry Potter.
If you want to be among the first pairs of
eyeballs to read "Harry Potter and the
Deathly Hallows" sign-up at the Children's
Desk at the Library.
One adult and two children per family, please.

| Book Club Leader |
 |
|
If you are reading this then we can assume
you are a good and avid reader.
But do you like to talk about books?
Are you good with all kinds of people?
Can you help shy people speak up?
If you answered yes to any of these questions
-- good, we need you.
We are looking for someone to lead our adult book
discussion group beginning this fall.
The discussion leader will work with group
members and library staff this summer to
select the books for the coming fall.
The group meets on the first Thursday of the
month, starting in September.
The discussion leader is responsible putting
the month's reading into context by providing
background on the author and book, and for
the lively and inclusive discussion of that
month's title. The Library provides the
books and the space.
The discussion leader will receive an
honorarium of $400 for ten sessions.
If interested please contact James Miller or
Sue Bullock at 658-7663 or just stop by the
library to talk it over with us.
