    Personality and Your Health

    The Simsbury Public Library's monthly Natural Health program for November will be "Reclaiming Your Power, Passion & Health: "Working with Your Personality". This program is co-sponsored by Awakenings Natural Healing.

    In this 2-hour talk, Dorothy Martin-Neville, Ph.D. explores the personality and it's affect on health and wellness. Dr. Martin-Neville looks at how to access the strengths of our personality to find our true passions in life.


    Dorothy Martin-Neville, PhD, LMFT, LPC, EMP is an international lecturer, teacher, author, psychotherapist, medical intuitive, and healer and is the Founder and President of the Institute of Healing Arts and Sciences in Bloomfield. In addition, she is an adjunct faculty member at the University of Connecticut Medical School, as well as, co-chair of the advisory board for the Frontier Medicine Grant funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH).

    "Resolving Business Disputes - A Mediation Round table"

    Business disputes are costly and time consuming. Join us to learn about one of the fastest growing trends in business today - using less traditional, alternative means to resolve disputes.

    Attorney and Mediator Tegan Blackburn will be the presenter. Tegan is a Connecticut-based business attorney, mediator, arbitrator and trial referee. She is an adjunct professor of Alternative Dispute Resolution at the University of Hartford.

    A Baker's Dozen of Tax Tips for Business

    The Simsbury Public Library's Business Resource Center will host, "A Baker's Dozen of Tax Tips for Business" on Wednesday, December 5th from 6:30 to 8:30 pm.


    Stephen E. Cadieux of Stephen E. Cadieux, LLC, Certified Public Accountant will share business tax tips that businesses can use now in preparation for the tax rush of April 2008.

    The interactive presentation will cover common tax preparation practices as well as some of the most often missed or unknown tax tips. Attendees will come away with useful information regarding new legislation and how this impacts business deductions and credits. The presentation will be followed by a question and answer period.

    Prior to opening up his own practice in October, 2003 in Avon, CT, Stephen was a tax partner in a mid-sized public accounting firm in Litchfield County. A graduate of Notre Dame, Stephen worked for Arthur Young in Hartford, CT. His specialties include tax leveraged business, estate and succession planning to a full range of compliance and accounting services.

    All programs are free of charge and will be held in the Program Room of the Simsbury Public Library's temporary location at 540 Hopmeadow Street (Rte. 10-the rear building-Simsmore Square).

    Interviews with New York Times bestselling authors

    We feature Jane Smiley, Joanne Fluke, Thomas Cook and more.

    For the kids

    "Mostly Music" program is held on Friday mornings at 9:30 for children aged birth to 23 months and their caregivers. Free play will follow the program from 10 to noon. The program features books, songs and movement. Drop in, no registration required.

    Mother/daughter book group for 7th & 8th graders is welcoming new readers. The group will meet on the 4th Tuesday of every other month to share conversation, ideas and treats. The first meeting is Nov. 27th at 7 pm in the program room at the Simsbury Public Library.

    Not Too Late To Join The Book Club

    It is never too late to join the Adult Book Club. We accept new members all the time.

    Our next meeting is Dec. 13 at 7 pm in the Library's program room.

    The book for the December meeting is "Magician's Assistant" by Ann Patchett.

    Stop by and pick up a copy at the reference desk if you are interested in reading it and coming to the club meeting.
