Repair Cafe

Remember the days when we darned our own socks or repaired broken household items? Have a small item that needs a quick repair? Before throwing it away, bring it to the Library’s first Repair Café. The Library wants to bring back a culture of ‘repairing not discarding” and help keep unnecessary items out of the waste stream.

Bring your small electrical appliance, torn clothing in need of mending or a button, small chair or table, broken crockery, bicycle, toy, or dull knife and a trade professional or handyman or woman will help you fix it. You must be able to carry the item you are bringing and it should be a repair that will take no more than about 15 minutes. Experts will also offer advice on items that cannot be fixed on the spot or that need more extensive repairs. In addition, there will be a station with handymen who will consult with you on DIY projects such as plumbing, tiling and carpentry.

This is a drop-in activity. Registration will take place on the day of the event on a first-come, first-served basis.
