TAB’s Summer Project: The Pizza Garden

The Simsbury Public Library has a vibrant community garden project. This summer, the Teen Advisory Board will construct a pizza garden from seed to harvest. This project will culminate with a pizza party at the library with the vegetables and herbs grown. Below is their progress tracking of the garden.

March 31, 2022:

On the 31st of March, members of the teen advisory board helped to plant seeds for a pizza garden. A variety of things were planted such as basil, different kinds of tomatoes, and peppers.

April 28, 2022:

On the 28th of April, most of the plants have already grown. As time passes, these plants will quickly grow even more. We also put together new garden beds.

July 28, 2022

The Teen Advisory Board has an ongoing project of planting and creating a pizza garden. We are growing vegetables that are usually found as toppings on pizza. The progress of this project has been slow however we have seen improvements. There are more buds and flowers blooming as well as the growth of these plants. We hope to see beautiful results when the growth is done. We also will actually use the plants that we grew on pizzas!” And the below pictures are the before and after of the pizza garden.
